Jericho is the second born son of an Irish father and a German mother. His father was from Ireland and had met Jericho's mother when he traveled abroad during a mission with the English military. The two met and fell wildly in love which prompted them to escape Europe and come to America. Johanna's parents had both been born in Germany, her grandmother a survivor of the Holocaust. Her parents were outraged at the man Johanna fell in love with and told her it was disrespectful to her heritage to fall in love with a non-German boy. On the night Johanna ran away, her grandmother told her that she loved her and that she would never stand in the way of true love, no matter who he looked like.

Jericho's only downfall was growing up in an Apple Pie American family. He was born X# years after his brother and the family was your average American family. Padraig worked hard to lose most of his Irish accent and Johanna's became so faint that neither of them passed it on to either of their sons. For most of his life, Jericho simply felt out of place. His humor was always dark and macabre and a few times, the school councilor asked to speak with him to make sure everything was alright. Jericho had no idea how to tell them that everything was fine, he was just being the person he felt he was supposed to be.

Finally, Jericho was able to make his escape. He ended up in Salem, a town he'd always felt a connection with. He settled into the town rather easily, using some money had had left to him by his grandmother. He took a few art classes and after some of his work was featured in a gallery, a tattoo artist approached him with a job offer. He worked for awhile, as well as moved in with his first serious girlfriend. Shortly after they got together, however, Emma took off without warning and it would be four years before he found her again. Feeling rejected and out of place, Jericho took off and traveled the world, trying to bury his pain. After two years, he returned stateside and set out in search of her. It would take another two years, and the start of his business, before he would find her. After finding her, he packed up his business and moved to Cherry Grove where he planned to open A Good and Useful Hurt, hoping he'd get some loyal customers from Raleigh to still come see him when they needed their ink touched up.

Tattooing, though, is where he finally found his nirvana. The hum of the gun, the smell of the ink and blood and skin was everything he had been looking for. Pieces that were important and emotional for the client were his favorites and he more than took his time to make sure they were perfection. Owning and operating the studio was a bit more than Jericho could handle at first, but he soon found his stride. Along with an amazing client, who happened to be a model, Jericho began to make the studio and the art his own. These days, when he's not tattooing, he can be found at any number of photoshoots doing body paint on the models. He's learned the art of bodypainting, where he can make it look like the model isn't actually naked. His name and talent are highly praised and for now, he's happy with the professional life he's found himself in. Now, if he could just get Emma to see that he's everything she needs and she's everything he wants, he'll be happy in every sense of the word.
